Ex-Wema Bank MD, Adegbite, Dies
Former Managing Director of Wema Bank, Chief Samuel Adegbite, is dead.
Adegbite, died on Sunday morning at a Lagos hospital. He was aged 73.
Curiously, sympathisers, who thronged the deceased ‘Oasis of Grace Villa’ Ibadan residence on Monday, were turned back.
Correspondent, who visited the place, saw three of the deceased’s aides preventing sympathisers from gaining access to the compound.
One of them (name not given) said, “Chief died in a Lagos Hospital. That is all we know for now. His family members are not here in Ibadan. You know he lived more in Lagos than Ibadan. We have not received any directive on how to open condolence register.
“All we have been telling the visitors is that we cannot receive anybody yet until we have instruction from the family.”
Until his death, Adegbite was Chairman, Oasis Group Limited, Oasis Insurance Plc, and Intercontinental Homes Savings and Loans Limited.
